“Education is a natural process carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.”
- Dr. Maria Montessori
Dayspring Montessori Educational Center, Inc.

Dayspring Montessori Educational Center came into being in 1995 when Laura Bergeson and Julie Wand formed a partnership and opened the Montessori Elementary School of St. George in a remodeled home on 700 South.  In 1998, the school was renamed and moved to its present location on 200 East.  Our beautiful St. George campus includes a turn of the century home which adds to the historic ambiance of downtown St. George.

In the fall of 2005 Dayspring opened a Cedar City Early Childhood campus. This newly renovated facility also includes a historic home. The campus is located within Gateway Preparatory Academy, an Iron County charter school, at 200 East Thoroughbred Way, in Enoch, Utah. Dayspring remains a separate entity and models that same educational philosophy and dedication to high standards found at the St. George campus.

We have a student body of well over one hundred. Children have every opportunity to reach their fullest potential in our schools.  As our graduates extend their experiences to other educational environments, they take with them the love of peace, self-direction and thirst for learning that they gained at Dayspring Montessori.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to bless the lives of children and their families.  We teach truth, support correct principles, and assist children in meeting their spiritual, emotional, physical, social and academic needs.

Dayspring Philosophy

Dayspring Montessori Educational Center, Inc. focuses on developing the individual potential of each student.  We believe that it is important that students “learn how to learn” rather than just amass academic knowledge (rote recall).  Our attention focuses on individual development and on the provision of experiences that can optimize this development.  In this way each child's options in the future are expanded.

"Clean and loving environment for your child! Having been in the Montessori Community for the past 23 years, I can say honestly that Dayspring Montessori embraces and adheres to all aspects of the philosophy. All of Dayspring's teachers are fully trained and certified through a nationally accredited program and the school itself is accredited through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, which sets the national standard for excellency in Montessori schools. Dayspring produces students, of all ages and levels, that are capable and independent young children. In the caring and nurturing environments of Dayspring, the children render a sense of respect for their surroundings, as well as, a love and passion for learning itself. Tours are available for you to learn more about how Dayspring can benefit you and your family." - Google Review, Oct 18, 2010
